After a lovely autumn half term break, we returned to the nursery where the children were excited to dress up for Pumpkin Day! We continued our pumpkin theme by printing some pumpkin pictures and Miss Veronica showed us how to make Mexican Tortilla’s. We enjoyed playing outside, collecting leaves in the autumn sun, and when the rain came the children practiced putting on their own waterproofs and wellie boots to wear outside to splash in the puddles.
Next, we discussed Bonfire Night and how to keep safe around fireworks. The children made some lovely firework pictures flicking paint across the paper. Then we started our hibernation topic, reading lots of books about hibernation with our favourite one being about a hedgehog called Hodge. Over in the arts and crafts area, the children decorated hedgehogs with leaves and sticks and we made a special nest for hedgehogs to hibernate in. The children also enjoyed baking some savoury cheese scones and fruit scones. Then on Friday, our Ofsted Inspector came (news about this will be mentioned at the end of the newsletter.)
Finally, December arrived, and we started our Christmas crafts, making decorations from clay, 3D cards and some crackers. We all had such fun learning Christmas songs, reading lots of festive stories, and baking some scrumptious Gingerbread Men. The weather during this month was very cold, but we continued to play outside, making snow angles on the frosty grass, and rescuing toy cars stuck in the ice. To bring a close to the term, we celebrated by having Christmas Jumper Day and our Christmas Party, where we played musical statues, musical chairs, pin the nose on Rudolph, feed the reindeer and throw snowballs in a box, the perfect end to a joyful term!
In relation to our Ofsted Inspection, it went well and me and the team are happy to report we are rated GOOD !
Lastly, have a happy and relaxing break, with a good Christmas and a happy new year!
We return to nursery on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
