Welcome Back !

We began the Spring term by warmly welcoming the children back after their Christmas holidays. It was such a joy to hear their stories about Father Christmas and the wonderful gifts they received—it really brought the magic of the season into our classroom!  Upon return, the children made best use of the January snow.

Exploring the Arctic joy

Our topic this term began with Arctic Animals. The children embraced their creativity by building their own igloos using a variety of materials and lots of imagination! In our sensory tray, we explored the unique texture of crushed meringues, giving the little ones a hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and wonder.

Chinese New Year Celebrations

We celebrated Chinese New Year with fun and vibrant activities. The children made colourful snakes using paper plates, learning about the traditions and symbolism of this important festival. They were proud to take their creations home and share what they had learned.

Book of the Month: How to Be a Friend

This month’s focus was on friendship and kindness. Through our featured book, How to Be a Friend, the children discussed what it means to be a good friend. Some children even shared a box to sit in (really lovely to see, as sharing is caring!)

As part of the celebration, they enjoyed making and baking mini pizzas delicious and made with love!

“Stories from the Head”

In true Montessori fashion, we encouraged the children to express themselves through storytelling. Our “Stories from the Head” activity gave each child the opportunity to share their ideas and imaginations with their peers, building confidence and communication skills.

Enjoying the Outdoors

As the days grew brighter, we embraced more outdoor learning. From enjoying lunch in the sunshine to exploring nature in our garden, the children thrived in the fresh air and freedom to move and explore.

Mother’s Day Creations

To celebrate Mother’s Day, the children made special chocolates for their loved ones. This was also a wonderful learning opportunity, as we observed how chocolate changes from a liquid to a solid. The children were fascinated by this transformation!

Easter Fun & Farm Adventures

Our Easter celebrations included making chocolate crispy cakes shaped like nests, which the children proudly took home. To wrap up the term, we visited a local farm where the children met lambs, goats, and chickens. They loved stroking the animals, running through the fields, and having a picnic together a perfect end to a joyful term.

Wishing You a Happy Easter

We hope you have a restful and happy Easter break, enjoying plenty of lovely chocolates and quality time with your little ones.
